The Tagus wine region is one of the main wine regions in Portugal. Located in the central part of the country, along the Tagus River, this region has a long tradition in wine production, dating back to ancient times. The region is known for its well-tended vineyards and picturesque landscape.

Tagus wines are diverse, with a wide range of styles and grape varieties. However, some of the most common grape varieties include Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Castelão, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonês (also known as Tempranillo) and Fernão Pires.

Red wines produced in the region are often full-bodied, with soft tannins and ripe fruit flavors. White wines tend to be fresh and aromatic, with floral and fruity notes.

Furthermore, the region's Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot, dry summers, contributes to the quality of the grapes grown. The combination of soil, climate and winemaking techniques has helped the Tagus region to gain prominence on the Portuguese and international wine scene.
