The Alentejo region, located in the south of Portugal, is known for its high-quality wine production. It is one of the main wine regions in Portugal and one of the largest geographical areas demarcated for wine production in the country. The region is characterized by vast plains, a hot and dry climate during the summer and diverse soils, which create ideal conditions for growing a wide variety of grapes.

Alentejo wines are known for their diversity, quality and typicality. They are produced from a variety of grapes, including Trincadeira, Aragonez (also known as Tempranillo), Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, among others. Alentejo wine producers stand out in the production of full-bodied, aromatic and elegant red wines, but they also produce fresh and aromatic white wines, as well as quality rosés.

The region has several sub-regions, each with its own specific geographic and climatic characteristics, which contributes to the diversity of wine styles produced. Some of the best-known sub-regions include Portalegre, Borba, Évora, Redondo, Reguengos and Vidigueira.

Alentejo wines have gained international recognition over the years and are appreciated both locally and in international markets.
